Reading Extra Credit

 Reading Extra Credit- First Semester Due December 7th, 2018.

Extra Credit (+10 points on any quiz or test):

  1. Choose  and Read any BIOGRAPHY or AUTOBIOGRAPHY that is between 4.0 and 6.5 reading level AND over 150 pages in length. (Book must be approved by Mrs. Konas.)
  1. Take an AR test on it. (Must score 80% or higher to receive FULL extra credit points.)
  1. TYPE a book review on the book using the question prompts below:

In 8-10 complete sentences, write your overall opinion and impression of this book. Be sure to give detailed support (reasons why and specific examples from the book) for your opinion.

  • Do you like the book? Why or why not?
  • What was the best part of the book? Why?
  • What were some of the accomplishments of the main character? Did they always have success?
  • What lesson can you learn from reading about this person?
  • Is this person a good role model for young people? Why or why not?
  • How could this person’s life have been different if they trusted in God and made Him the Lord of their life?

  • Turn Homeward, Hannalee by Patricia Beatty (RL4.9/7pts)
  • Red Cap by G. Clifton Wisler (RL5.4/6pts)
  • Adara by Beatrice Gormley (RL5.9/5pts)

During our Figurative Language Unit (Dec. 2018), students are encouraged to locate examples of figurative language while reading in their AR book. They must show me the example in their book and explain the type of figurative language they found. Each example is worth 0.5 points up to 10 points for their final unit test on Thursday, Dec. 20th. Points will still be awarded on the 21st of December.
